The Minsk City Court will begin hearing the Macurichi sabotage case on August 19.
A total of 12 people passed through: Maxim Lopatin, Andrey Stepurko, Oleg Sychev, Denis Sokolov, Alexander Azarov (outside Belarus), Evgenia Tochitskaya, Mikhail Demin, Sergey Loparev, Anastasia Pilko, Vitaly Yakutik, Alla Yatsuta and Nikolai Shvets.
However, some of them (Azarov, Tochitskaya, Lopalev, Yakuti, Hatta, Demin, as well as the Ukrainian saboteur Nikolay Shvets, who moved to Ukraine) are not in Belarus.
All were charged with 11 criminal offences: Art. 1, para. 1, 3614 of the Criminal Code (promotion of extremist activities), Art. 1, para. 2901 (financing of terrorist activities), Art. 1, para. 356 (treason), Art. 1, para. 342 (organizing and preparing actions that seriously violate public order, or actively participating in them), Art. 3581 (undercover activities), Art. 4, para. 309 (intentionally rendering a vehicle or means of communication inoperable), Art. 289 (terrorist acts), Art. 361 1 (creation of an extremist organization), Art. 3612 (financing the activities of extremist groups), Art. 4, para. 295 (illegal acts concerning firearms and explosives), Art. 290 3 (being trained or otherwise prepared to participate in terrorist activities).
The trial will be held behind closed doors.
