Times: Ukraine receives six F-16 fighter jets from the Netherlands
According to The Times, Ukraine has received six F-16 fighter jets from the Netherlands, and Danish F-16 fighter jets will also arrive in Ukraine soon.
Media reports indicate that Dutch Defense Minister Kaisa Olungren informed parliament in a letter dated July 1 that deliveries of the first fighter jets were about to begin.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky informed on June 16 that Danish fighter jets will start arriving in the near future.
Bloomberg reported on July 31 that the first F-16 fighter jets had arrived in Ukraine, which was confirmed by the Associated Press. However, it is not clear how many aircraft we are talking about.
Meanwhile, The Telegraph writes that F-16 fighters have already carried out their first combat missions in Ukraine. According to the publication, these aircraft have so far been used only for air defense missions.
Myhaylo Podoljak, chief adviser to the Ukrainian presidential office, said Ukraine has not officially confirmed whether the first batch of F-16 fighter jets have actually been delivered.
EU High Representative Josep Borrell stressed on Wednesday how important it was to immediately provide Ukraine with more air defence and other military equipment.
“Last night, Kiev was the target of another massive Russian attack,” Borrell wrote on social media.
“Ukrainians need help. The immediate provision of additional air defence and military equipment is crucial,” Borrell stressed.
ISW: Russia continues to attack Ukrainian positions in the direction of Avdijivka
The ISW think tank reported in its latest war review that Russia continues to attack Ukrainian positions in the direction of Avdigivka. Russian war blogs claim that Russian troops are advancing towards Ivanivka (northwest of Avdigivka). Fighting continues near Vesele and Sershigivka, and near Yasnobrodivka west of Avdigivka.
According to the Ukrainian Pravda newspaper, Deepstate analysts, which monitor developments on the front, found that Russian troops were able to capture the Timofeevka settlement in the Avdievka/Pokrovsky direction.
On Tuesday, Russian troops were about 20 kilometers from Pokrovsk, which has become an important center for the Ukrainian military due to its easy access to Kostiantynivka, ISW reported.
