The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 40,589 points, up 1.64% from the previous trading day; the S&P 500 closed at 5,459 points, up 1.11%; and the Nasdaq closed at 17,357 points, up 1.03%.
On a weekly basis, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.8%, the S&P 500 fell 0.8%, and the Nasdaq fell 2.1%, with sharp market fluctuations.
