In early July, the newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza revealed that during a search of the residence of Romanowski, who managed the funds of the Justice Fund, a letter from Jarosław Kaczyński to Zbigniew Ziobro in 2019 was found, in which Kaczyński appealed against the possibility that the candidate of the Polish Solidarity Party used the fund for election campaigns. Gazeta Wyborcza pointed out that the content of the letter proves that both politicians were aware that it was illegal to finance campaigns with these funds. In addition, Kaczyński had previously been informed of possible abuses, but he only responded by writing a letter.
