While the country’s President Moethai Bradson is expected to depart from the Land of the Rising Sun soon, no fewer than three ministers, including the Deputy President, will be absent from Fenua this week. Just before the Finance Minister departs… to Fiji. A bit like a Claude Francois hit song!

We are in no way going to compete for the interests of these international missions! But this absence comes at an inopportune time, even though the Polynesian Parliament is firmly awaiting the submission of the third collective budget and a certain amount of tax texts.

After two postponements, the new summons were issued. Unless there are last-minute changes, the initial review by the Economic and Financial Committee is scheduled for Tuesday, July 23. No Vice President, Minister of Culture and Minister of Education traveled to the Marshall Islands, while the other two traveled to India. Opposition elected officials are therefore required to wait for the plenary session to raise any issues affecting their respective areas.

But this is not the only consequence of these trips. In fact, we can already conclude that the special meeting scheduled for July 31 is “over”. In fact, the presence of the Minister of Finance in Fiji during the following week is essential for the processing of such documents. Moreover, we may have to wait until Thursday, August 8 to “turn the power back on in Tarahoe”.
