Karonga-Chitipa Cultural Heritage has announced that the 2024 cultural festival will be held on October 18 and 19.
Chairman Malembo Mwahinga disclosed that the event will be held at the historic Mbande Hill in Karonga District.
Mwahinga said the festival would be doubly glorified by the arrival of His Royal Highness, Kyungu, who would celebrate its rich cultural heritage with the community.
“The event aims to preserve and promote traditional customs, music, arts and crafts, and showcase the unique cultural characteristics of the region,” he explained.
Mwasinga encouraged the community to come forward to support the initiative.
“We call on everyone to participate and contribute in whatever way they can. Your support will help us a lot,” he said.
Organisers are seeking both cash and in-kind support to ensure the event is a success. “We rely on the generosity of the community to make this event a reality,” they said.
Rich in history and cultural significance, Mount Mbande provided the perfect backdrop for the event. The mountain has witnessed the history of the region and played an important role in shaping the cultural identity of the community.
The festival will feature a range of activities including traditional dances, music performances and art exhibitions.
