Libreville, Friday, July 19, 2024 (Infos Gabon) – Accompanied by First Lady Zita Oligui Nguema, members of the Institutional Transition and Recovery Commission (CTRI) and Raymond Ndong Sima, member of the Government, the President of Gabon Transition continues his republican tour in the Haut-Ogoué province, visiting the regions of Bakuumba, Munana and Moanda.

In the capital of Lekoko province (Bakumba), General Brice Clotel Origi Nguema spoke to the population who presented to him a list of grievances, which included in particular the lack of health facilities, inadequate educational institutions, unemployment among young people and others.

Mr. Flavien Youbi, the Special Representative for Bakuumba, said: “We thank you for starting the works on the Bakuumba-Lekoko road and we express our concerns. A lot of infrastructure is aging, the Gendarmerie Battalion, Marie, the Provincial Council, insufficient transport resources, Lycée Zacharie Mayika, we are asking for construction. Don’t forget the youth unemployment that is affecting us in the area.”

In his response, the Head of State announced that “355 million CFA francs will be allocated to the city of Bakuumba for local development”. General Brice Clotel Origi Nguema also announced other measures, including increasing the reception capacity of the Zachary Mayika College, building a multimedia room and launching works on the Moanda-Bakuumba axis. In fact, the Head of State asked all the sons and daughters of Bakuumba to unite in moral values.

In Munana, the President and his wife received the same warm welcome, walks and greetings from local authorities before taking their seats at the Town Hall Square. Before the ceremony began, the President and his wife first received speeches and blessings from the deans.

The city’s special representative, on behalf of the people of Munana, demanded the revitalization of their city and its surrounding areas, the establishment of the Munana Special Economic Zone, the reopening of timber companies that will create jobs, the construction of schools, and hospitals equipped with medicines for the health of the people.

“We asked the Jean Claude Hospital to optimize its optimization by strengthening its technological platform through analytical laboratory equipment, rehabilitation of ambulances and mortuaries, provision of relay generators and allocation of specialist doctors and health personnel” Njosima said.

In response, the Head of State, while remembering the prosperous days of Munana, assured that concrete solutions to the concerns of the people would be found soon. He then said it would be wise to address the issue of unemployment affecting the youths.

General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema lamented: “Munana was an attractive town marked by the Franceville Uranium Mining Company (COMUF), but after the closure of the mine, the town lost its charm and many unemployed people moved to the town’s neighbours.”

To complete the structural project, the Head of State awarded the municipality of Munana 360 million CFA francs. Upon his arrival in Moanda, the Transitional President was warmly welcomed by the local population, who received wreaths, attributes of power and blessings from wise men.

Like their brothers and sisters in other parts of the country and in Upper Ogowe, the Moandi family seized the opportunity to voice their grievances to the transitional president, particularly the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects, the construction of modern markets, improved drinking water supply, construction of fire stations, police stations and the creation of production units to curb youth unemployment.

In his response, the Head of State said that the ambition of the CTRI is to restore the dignity of every Gabonese, before announcing the provision of 1.46 billion (1,460,000,000) CFA francs to the municipality to finance various priority projects.

In addition, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema laid the foundation stone for the future Moanda High School of Excellence and launched the earthworks of the school complex, creating between 50 and 100 direct jobs. The construction started on July 1, 2024 and will last for eight months, accommodating 1,000 students.

The building will include 44 classrooms, a multi-purpose room, a library, a sports area and a computer room. A qualified teaching team will be recruited, as well as personnel responsible for maintenance and security.
