Since the telescope was launched into orbit less than 11 months ago and sent its first image six months ago, the latest images released are of the Dorado galaxy cluster, a large galaxy cluster called “Abell 2764” and the reflection nebula Messier 78 that is the source of a vibrant star nursery filled with interstellar dust, the Abell 2390 giant galaxy cluster, and our own Milky Way, NGC 6744. NGC 6744 is a twin. It is a spiral galaxy. It is about 30 million light-years from Earth and is currently forming stars.
The Euclid telescope’s mission is scheduled to continue for another six years, providing scientists with data and observations of galaxies 10 billion light-years away.
