The Chinese have compiled a ranking of cars with the best features.

A branch of the American agency “J.D. Power” has published the latest statistics on the most balanced cars. The APEAL (Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout Study) rating is created based on ten surveys of new car owners. The sample includes vehicles purchased between June 2023 and March 2024. Electric models are not included in the list.
Respondents were asked to rate the cars’ exterior, interior, accessibility, performance, driving experience, safety, multimedia systems, ride comfort and fuel economy.
In the compact sedan segment, Geely Emgrand was the best car for the second year in a row: it beat the Roewe i5. In the mid-size sedan category, the Volkswagen Lamando L won the championship and the Geely Preface took second place.
In the compact crossover category, the “GAC GS3” ranked first, and the “Changan CS35 Plus” ranked second. The “Chery Tiggo 8” and “Chery Tiggo 7 Plus” dominated the mid-size SUV segment. In the full-size crossover category, the “GAC GS8” unexpectedly surpassed the “Volkswagen Talagon” to become the leader. Finally, in the minivan category, the GAC M8 ranked second: second only to the long-selling Buick GL8.
Chinese cars do not dominate in all areas: imported models lead in the luxury and high-end segments. The Lynk & Co, Hongqi and Tank brands failed to receive a rating: their results were below average. Experts consider Chery and Geely to be the most balanced Chinese brands.
