According to government records, on the evening of July 5, 2024, a mother called the Tafuna Police Department when she and her husband suspected a man was yelling at his girlfriend because he heard the man swearing multiple times with his girlfriend, who was in the room and heard loud noises coming from the room.)
(Samoa News will not release the names of those involved in the case for the protection of children.
When the police arrived at the accident scene, the police asked the mother where her son was, but the mother said she was with her girlfriend and pointed the body to the forest. When the police were about to enter the woods to look for the defendant, they saw the defendant and his girlfriend coming back.
The mother explained to the police that while she was in her room, she heard loud noises coming from her son’s (accused’s) room, as well as curses from her son’s children. This is consistent with the defendant’s ancestor’s account, who said he heard it while standing outside the room. The defendant’s father said he saw his son’s daughter come out of the room and it appeared that she was being tortured.
Police then placed the accused in one of the police cars and the girlfriend and her two children in another police car and took them to Tafuna’s office to continue their investigation.
The defendant’s female friend said in an interview that the defendant was unhappy because she thought her child was sick and he was accused of not taking good care of the child, as he was also a defendant.
The female friend also explained that the defendant slammed the door and kicked items in the room when he got angry, and his behavior made her worry about the safety of the baby. The female friend also said that the defendant cursed at the time, so she left the room, but the defendant did not touch her, but was afraid because of the defendant’s young age.
The female friend also said that on the evening of July 3, 2024, when she was resting in her room, the defendant came over and accused her of having another secret boyfriend. The woman thought the defendant was joking, but when she told him that she would no longer wash clothes for the defendant, the man got angry and punched him on the left cheek.
The woman had injuries on the left side of her face but emergency personnel refused to request treatment, the records show. The woman also explained that the defendant was under surveillance.
When interviewed, the defendant confirmed that he closed the door and verbally abused his girlfriend, but he said he did so because his son looked sick, but his girlfriend did not seem too worried.
The defendant also testified that he assaulted his girlfriend on July 3 because of something he said when he accused her of secretly having another friend.
On July 5, police contacted Child Protective Services. After CPS investigated, it was announced that the girlfriend would be returned to the defendant’s family.
The defendant was charged with one count of third-degree assault – a Class “A” misdemeanor, but if his allegation is proven, his penalty is the same as for a Class “D” felony.
The defendant is being held on $10,000 bail pending trial.
