Amid the triple murder that shocked the entire Una-Sana Canton, the USK Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUPUSK) held a press conference today in front of the Sanski Most Police Station building, where the Prime Minister of the Una-Sana Canton, Sana Canton, Nijaz Hušić and the Canton’s Minister of the Interior, Adnan Habibija, and the Minister of Education, Denis Osmankić, gave speeches.
Prime Minister Njaz Hušić expressed deep sadness and shock at the incident and stressed that it was a dark day for Sanski Most, a city known for the peaceful and harmonious life of its citizens.
– For all of us who knew Sanski Most, we know that this is an unusual event for this environment. I would like to take this opportunity to express my condolences to the families of those who died today. “We are confident that the investigations conducted here will shed light on what happened at this school” – said the USK Prime Minister.
Sanski Mayor Faris Hasanbegovic also pointed out that people were shocked and unbelievable about this terrible act.
– This is not something we are used to, this is an isolated case, no words can justify such an act. We hope and believe that MUPUSK will be able to come to the truth as soon as possible. I call on citizens to never take the law into their own hands, and to rely on the judicial institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina even when injustice occurs. For these families, even on this day, no words can ease their tragedy, said Hasanbegovic.
USK Education Minister Denis Osmankić expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and stressed that the ministry will provide all necessary assistance to the families and institutions involved.
Unasana State Interior Minister Adnan Habibija termed today a black day for the state and called on citizens to remain calm, stressing that the police were controlling the situation.
– I call on all citizens to remain calm, the police are present and everything is under control, so there is no need to be afraid. This is an isolated case that ended in tragedy. We will not allow something like this to happen again and we will do everything we can to take preventive measures, Habibija said.
Police chief Amel Kozlikka gave details of the tragic incident.
The murder took place in the gymnasium at 10:06 a.m. The attacker attempted suicide after committing the triple murder but was stopped and received medical assistance and is currently hospitalized.
– Investigative activities and criminal investigations are ongoing, which will reveal the motives of this incident. For investigative purposes, we will not reveal details to the public at this time. I can confirm that it was an automatic weapon, which was not obviously brought into the school premises, and was used to commit a triple murder. – Kozlikka explained.
This tragic incident has deeply shaken Sanski Most and the entire region, leaving the people in shock and disbelief. The Unasana State Government and the police have pledged to take all measures to prevent similar incidents in the future, while the families of the victims are in unspeakable grief over the loss of their loved ones.
