Tomorrow, Tuesday, July 2, 2024, the Guyana Power and Light Company (GPL) will be relocating and reconfiguring its network to facilitate the gas-to-energy project, which will affect the supply of electricity to customers from Best Road to Vriesland from 10:00 pm to 2:00 am.
The utility said in a statement that GPL’s role and responsibilities in Guyana’s energy sector provide the company with the opportunity to fully participate in five project components: the 300 MW power plant, the transmission line and substation, a modern control centre building and SCADA equipment.
Leveraging GPL’s expertise in power plant construction and power generation as well as transmission and distribution lines, the company’s leading technical team was fully engaged in overseeing the preparation of technical functional specifications for these projects by Stantec, the release said.
During the current project execution phase, GPL continues to provide technical assistance through the working group with respect to clarifications and/or suggestions from the EPC contractor.
