Al-Sudani said, according to a statement from its media office reported to Al-Sumaria News, that this specific project belongs to the efforts to increase the benefits of oil and gas wealth, which began in 2019 and has been closely followed until its activation and completion today on the path of economic reform and optimization of investments in order to put an end to the combustion of associated gas and the resulting waste and impact on the environment and health.

Al-Sudani said that natural gas will directly contribute to the operation of power stations and prevent imports and hard currency consumption every year, as natural gas production has actually increased from 2.972 billion standard cubic feet per day (in 2022) to the current level of 3.1 billion standard cubic feet per day, with current investments of no more than 1,800 square meters.

The Prime Minister also confirmed that the investment rate for associated gas has been increased from 50% to 61%, and efforts and plans are continuing to invest in all gas produced, with the goal of reaching the flared gas (zero) rate by 2028.

The project, completed within the Petroleum Licensing Contract, consists of two units, each with a capacity of 150 million standard cubic feet, to desalt and dry natural gas and separate its basic components to obtain a dry natural gas product, which will be used to supply the national network for the operation of Government House and Maysan Investment Station, with a power generation capacity of more than (1,200) MW, according to the existing capacities and energy sources, the statement said.

As well as the production of liquefied gas to meet the needs of the Missan governorate, with an initial capacity of (1,100) tons per day, reaching 2,200 tons per day at the start of operations for domestic or automotive use, and transferring the remainder The project also produces condensate with a capacity of up to 1,000 barrels per day, which is blended with the produced crude oil to increase its specifications. Processing operations, according to the statement.
