Libreville, Wednesday, July 17, 2024 (Gabon News) – The General Consultative Council, which met from July 15 to 17, 2024 in Libreville, the capital of Gabon, announced the results of the 46th session of the African Consultative Council (ICC).
1,325 candidates registered on various CAMES suitability lists, including Assistant Professor and Research Manager, Lecturer and Research Manager, and Full Professor and Director of Research, with an overall registration success rate of 87.11%.
The work was inaugurated on Monday, July 15, at the University of Health Sciences (USS) by Gabonese Prime Minister Raymond Ndong Sima and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Hervé Ndoume Essingone.
In the presence of Souleymane Konaté, Secretary General of CAMES, some members of the Government, Jean Bruno Boguikouma, Rector of USS, USS teaching staff and students, the Head of Government explained that this work is mainly focused on the future of the university system through research that will allow a better understanding of scientific, technological and social upheavals in Gabon and the rest of the world, since the goal to be achieved, he believed, is to promote quality teaching and scientific research of considerable scope, in accordance with the needs of the contemporary world.
As Secretary-General Souleymane Konate said, the goal of the head of CAMES is to make it “an international reference body in scientific assessments and a real instrument for Africa’s integration and sustainable development by 2033”. He also believes that the realization of this noble ambition must be based on the Strategic Development Plan, which was adopted at the 48th Ministerial Conference held in Brazzaville, Congo last May.
“It must be broken down into 13 structured activities, 30 objectives, and organized into seven axes. For example, axis one: consolidation of results, improvement of CAMES governance; axis two is related to promoting creativity to strengthen CAMES,” he added.
“This meeting has made an outstanding contribution to the quality of exchanges and debates, validating the work previously carried out by experts within the Economic Community of Central Africa (ECCAS) within the Specialized Technical Commission of the Framework”, Prime Minister Raymond Ndong Simma recalled at the opening of the 46th CAMES CCG Working Meeting. CAMES has 19 member states.
