Government spokesman Chai Wacharonke said the number of visa-free countries would increase from 57 to 93. The 36 new countries include Albania, Cambodia, China, India, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Laos, Mexico, Morocco, Panama, Romania, Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan Enter.

Previously, Uzbek citizens had to obtain a visa on arrival in Thailand, conditional on a stay of 30 days.

Under the scheme, the stay of tourists has also been extended to 60 days, a government official said.

In addition, those who wish to work and travel can obtain a five-year visa valid for up to 180 days, which can be extended for another 180 days. They were previously entitled to two stays of 30 days each, according to a government spokesman.

It is worth noting that foreign students studying for higher education purposes do not have to leave the country immediately after graduation, but can stay for one year.
