On the 15th, Tesla Korea, South Korea’s No. 1 electric car seller, sent a customer notification email titled “Tesla designs vehicles with safety as its top priority,” saying, “If a battery abnormality is detected through the Tesla battery management system, we will take emergency measures. He added: “These measures are designed to help prevent or minimise potential damage and ensure a prompt response to unusual symptoms.”
He stressed that “in addition to the basic vehicle limited warranty that applies to all new vehicles, Tesla also provides a separate limited warranty for the vehicle’s battery and powertrain.”
On the 13th, the government recommended that electric vehicle manufacturers disclose information about battery manufacturers, but Tesla Korea has not yet responded. Tesla Korea’s email notification was interpreted as a response to reduce customer anxiety about electric vehicles.
Unlike Tesla Korea, most domestic automakers such as Hyundai Motor, Kia Motors, KG Mobility, and major imported automakers such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Volvo, and Stellantis have disclosed their battery manufacturers.
