Terrorist attacks on sensitive locations: Simulating FDS for effective response

The Ministry of Security (MSECU) organized a simulated exercise against a terrorist attack on sensitive locations in Mtenga, Ouagadougou, on Saturday, August 10, 2024. This initiative brought together all units of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS).

The purpose of the exercise is to test the interoperability of the Defense and Security Services (FDS) in coordinating actions. It also aims to enable the various FDS units to assess and test their response capabilities to terrorist attacks so that they can be deployed effectively and efficiently in real-life situations.

At the scene of the operation, the Minister of Security, the Divisional Police Commander, Mohamed Dou Sanna, stressed the importance of this move for the security situation in Burkina Faso. He congratulated the National Security Service for its commitment to the fight against the terrorist hydra.

Minister Sana, while expressing satisfaction with the lessons learned from this exercise and the recommendations resulting from it, also announced that such exercises will be increased to assess the responsiveness of the “men” in order to make the necessary corrections for greater combat capability of the combat units.

The simulation exercise was also attended by the Minister of Justice and Human Rights in charge of relations with institutions, the Minister of the Keeper of the Seals, Edasso Rodrigo Bayala, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigade General Celestine Simpul, and other actors in the chain of command of military and paramilitary institutions.
