Alcaraz unexpectedly succumbs to Monfils
Almost two weeks after losing in the final of the Paris Olympics, Carlos Alcaraz was eliminated in the second round of the Cincinnati Masters 1000 tournament after receiving a bye. The 21-year-old Spaniard, ranked second, lost to Frenchman Gael Monfils, 17 years his senior, 6:4, 6:7 (5:7), 4:6 in a match the day before. Monfils now faces Dane Holger Rune.
