Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali said the movement by government university teachers to scrap the universal pension scheme is unreasonable. He made the remarks while answering questions from reporters after a courtesy meeting with Yang Mingyong, Vice President for South and Central Asia of the Asian Development Bank, on Tuesday (July 2).

The finance minister said he could not find any reason for teachers to be upset about the Pratyaya scheme. Meanwhile, the ‘Pratyaya’ scheme for universal pension scheme has been made operational from July 1, 2024. To provide a sustainable pension system to people from all walks of life, the ‘Prayya’ scheme was launched for autonomous, self-governing and state-owned enterprises and their constituent entities.

Students in trouble ask to cancel certification program

Meanwhile, the deadlock continued for the second day as teachers, officials and employees of Dhaka University (DU) went on strike demanding cancellation of the accreditation plan. As a result, students were left in limbo. A more detailed investigation and monitoring is being carried out in this regard.
