I will try to resolve BJMC’s issues: Textile Consultant

Advisor to the Ministry of Shipping Commodore (retired) Dr. M Sakhawat Hossain said, “Till now, I have only heard stories of development in the name of Padma Setu and Mettorel. Now I see there are more problems in it. 15 years were too busy with flattery rather than problems. After coming to BJMC, the problem of not being able to find jobs and salary was frustrating. I will try to solve it.”

Brigadier (retired) Dr. Sahawat Hussain, Advisor to the Ministry of Textiles, Jute and Shipping, said this during an interaction with the leaders and employees of BJMC at the BJMC headquarters on Sunday (September 1).

The special guest of the meeting was Secretary of Textile and Jute Department. Abdul Rauf in his speech briefly described the initiatives taken by the department to eliminate the overall problems of BJMC.

Incidentally, the consultants, representing the BJMC Officers Association, were asked to resolve problems existing in the BJMC, such as closure of factories, lengthy process of job assimilation, and wage arrears.

The event was also attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, directors, advisors, officials and employees of BJMC at all levels, under the chairmanship of BJMC Chairman Farooq Ahmed.

Then in the afternoon at the Bangladesh Jute Mills Association meeting room, Advisor Dr. BJMC Chairman Abul Hossain asked M Sakhawat Hossain other issues including declaring jute as an agricultural product and abolishing 2% source tax on raw jute.

Minister of Textiles and Jute, Chairman of BJA Abdul Rauf accompanied the meeting. Farhad Ahmed Akand, Vice Chairman of BJSA Tapas Pramanik, Senior Vice Chairman of BJGEA Al Masud, Executive Committee Member of BJA Gazi Shariful Islam and others.
