Three concerts by world-famous pop star Taylor Swift in the Austrian capital Vienna have been cancelled.
The decision to cancel came after officials confirmed there were plans to attack the concert.
“After government officials confirmed a planned terrorist attack at the Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel three of our scheduled concerts for everyone’s safety,” Swift said in a statement about the concerts. A message was added to the note saying all tickets would be automatically refunded.
Police have reportedly narrowly thwarted an attempted Islamic State-linked attack on a Taylor Swift concert in Austria.
According to police, a 19-year-old man who lived at his home near Vienna was arrested in a raid on Wednesday along with another suspect. Various chemical substances were also found on the two suspects.
The two were allegedly targeting a concert at the Ernst Happel Stadium, where Swift was scheduled to perform over three sold-out days.
The 19-year-old Austrian suspect pledged allegiance to the terror group in July, according to local media reports. The two young men are believed to have been radicalized on the internet.
