Pago Pago, American Samoa— Congratulations to American Samoa’s only touring volleyball team, the Tausala Gold 18U Women’s Volleyball Club Team, for taking third place and winning the bronze medal out of 109 teams from across the United States at the 2024 Arizona Volleyball Festival in Phoenix, Arizona.
They entered the tournament ranked 35th and faced stiff competition from higher ranked teams from other states around the country. They went 10-2 through the group stage and made it to the championship gold medal bracket, but lost in the semifinals.
Coach Anthony Tati said: “Our goal has always been to showcase the talent of local Samoan girls.
“We’ve had several college coaches come to us and ask about girls.
“That’s what it’s all about! Using their talents to further their education to help and benefit their families and our community.
“We are so proud of them!”
We will miss our departing seniors, Malinah Purcell-Telefoni, Ayanna Estrada, Grace Fouvale, and Princess Spitzenberg! We wish you all the best in your college life!
Finally, a huge shout out to our coaches, Anthony Ta’atiti and Irvinson Taase. These girls know how much you love them and want the best for them. They gave it their all and made you proud.
