The 2024 Digicel Fiji Southern Region Women’s Futsal League kicked off with the Tailevu Northland Women’s Futsal Team defeating local rivals the Tailevu Naitasiri Women’s Futsal Team 4-2.
Captain Roselyn Claire Siddal spoke about her team’s performance, saying it was the first time a women’s team had won against Tailevu Naitasiri.
“Last year, we beat every team in the league except Naitasiri. We played them in a play-off but lost at the last minute,” Sidhar explained.
“This year, we identified our weaknesses and worked on our defense, and it really paid off.”
The win set a positive tone for Tailevu Northland and boosted the team’s confidence and motivation.
“I’m so proud of the girls; this win sets up a good winning momentum for us,” Siddal added.
In other action, the Suva Women’s Futsal team defeated defending champions Nasinu Women’s team 2-1.
