Some gunmen suspected to be members of a cult group have reportedly killed a staff member of a New Generation Bank in Edo State, Benin.

According to the Information Nigeria report, the victim, identified as Nosa, died on June 20, 2024, in the government protected area of ​​Benin City, the state capital.

It is understood that the banker received a strange call inviting him to hang out at a restaurant after get off work.

According to PUNCH, the deceased decided to meet the person who called him at the agreed location.

It is alleged that as he was on his way to the location, the attackers had apparently been following him and blocked his vehicle with their car and immediately opened fire.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, on Sunday confirmed the incident and described it as unfortunate, adding that investigations had begun.

“Yes, the command has confirmed it and it was an unfortunate incident. Currently, the matter is under investigation,” he said.

“As the investigation progresses, the police will release more information. The perpetrators will be punished.”
