Koror, Palau — The U.S. Marine Corps, 1st Marine Logistics Group, 13th Combat Logistics Battalion, in partnership with the U.S. Embassy in Koror, announces an upcoming Supplier Day event designed to empower and educate small business owners in Palau while providing an opportunity to speak with CLB-13 contracting officers. The event, scheduled for July 24, 2024 at 9 a.m. at the Palau Royal Resort, is designed to encourage local businesses to participate in government contracting opportunities. It highlights efforts to expand the supplier base and enhance diversity in the supply chain.
“As contracting officers in the United States Marine Corps, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and vibrant supply chain,” said Sgt. Hanna Tilley, CLB-13 contracting officer supporting Exercise Koa Moana 24. “Palau Supplier Day is designed to provide local small business owners with the necessary tools and knowledge to thrive in government contracting.”
The main goal of Supplier Day is to bridge the gap between Palau’s small businesses and profitable government contracting opportunities. The event will feature an interactive Q&A session for attendees to seek personalized guidance from contracting officers and subject matter experts. This open dialogue is designed to address specific concerns and uncertainties of participating businesses.
Key topics that will be discussed during the event include:
- Getting Started in Government Contracting – An overview of the benefits, opportunities, and steps to becoming a government contractor.
- Required Registration Sites – Detailed guidance on registering on SAM.gov and PIEE, the platform used to access government contracts.
- Payment Process – Explains government contract payment procedures and invoicing best practices.
- Common Problems and Solutions – Discussions on overcoming challenges and maintaining compliance with government contracts.
“We are pleased to partner with Palau’s small businesses through Supplier Day,” added Tilley. “Together, our goal is to drive innovation, improve the quality of service, and support economic growth in Palau’s communities and economic efficiency in the U.S. Marine Corps.”
