Qatar’s leading technology company Sununu has announced the launch of its much-anticipated fifth summer training program, the only and largest training program in Qatar, as Sununu continues to offer students unparalleled opportunities to gain hands-on experience in the information technology industry, including software development, data analysis, product design, marketing, and more.
In line with Qatar’s 2030 vision to diversify its economy and impart knowledge to the younger generation, Sununu’s training program aims to provide students with the opportunity to work directly with leading technology professionals in a real-world environment. The program aims to give trainees the opportunity to learn about the latest technologies and outstanding projects, and provide them with guidance and training from the best industry experts. The company said that this year’s program has received 26 outstanding trainees from prestigious institutions such as Carnegie Mellon University Qatar, Northwestern University Qatar, Georgetown University Qatar, Qatar University, Doha University of Science and Technology, Lahore University of Science and Management, Qatar University of British Columbia, Loughborough University, Texas A&M University Qatar and EPS University.

The program is open to undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates who are passionate about technology and eager to learn new skills.

“I chose to apply for Sununu’s training program because it provides an ideal opportunity to work with innovative technologies and contribute to a dynamic company,” said Fatima Al-Jassem, a Bachelor of Computer Engineering student and intern in Qatar University’s Technology Team.
Fatima expressed her enthusiasm to learn from the leadership and vision of the company’s CEO, Mr. Hamad Al-Hajri, to gain hands-on experience in automation, database management, and application development, saying, “I am excited to make a tangible impact as I grow professionally.”
“I chose to apply for Sununu’s training program for many personal and professional reasons,” said Hashim Atallah, Mechanical Engineering graduate and Product Intern at Texas A&M University. “As a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Texas A&M University in Qatar, my strong technical background was augmented by my previous hands-on experience in Product Management and Marketing during my internship at Jeep Grocers.”

Hashim explained that his experience at a small startup enabled him to contribute to the entire product development lifecycle. He added, “I decided to apply to train at Sununu because I wanted to take the next step in my career in a more dynamic and expansive environment.”
He said he was particularly pleased to contribute to the vision and development of “Sununu”, noting that through the training program he hopes to immerse himself in an environment that fosters creative innovation and encourages change in the industry, as he put it.
Success Stories
Andrew Edward, who joined Sununu as an intern in June 2021, said: “Mr. Hamad himself contacted me on LinkedIn and said, ‘If you are interested in a new challenge, please send me your resume!'” From that day on, Andrew started working as a user research intern in the digital marketing team.
He added: “Working with an experienced manager in a fast-growing startup was an exciting opportunity that Sununu offered me. Helping build an end-to-end analytics pipeline created opportunities for the team to understand user behavior. His role later evolved into product management and marketing. Now Andrew leads his own team as Director of Product Marketing.
In this context, the training experience at Sununu was also praised by Zaryab Zulfiqar Ali, who now works as an engineering manager, having joined Sununu in April 2020 when other training opportunities were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ziryab is now responsible for overseeing development, developing strategies to solve business problems, and continuing to improve core systems to increase efficiency and service quality.
A platform for young people’s thoughts
Hazar Al Kilani, Director of Public Relations and Social Responsibility at Sununu, said: “We are delighted to welcome our fifth cohort. Every year, we see incredible talent and passion, and this year is no exception. Our programme aims to provide a platform for young people to innovate and grow, in line with Qatar Vision 2030.”
Al Kilani expressed pride in the success stories of previous students who have grown into key roles within the company, saying: “We look forward to seeing what this year’s class achieves.”
