*Statement by Sudanese political and civil forces on the outcomes of the Cairo Conference*
The undersigned Sudanese political and civil forces express their sincere gratitude and great appreciation to the brotherly Arab Republic of Egypt for the kind invitation extended by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to hold a meeting of political and civil forces in Cairo on June 6 and 7, 2024, with the aim of finding a solution to the current Sudanese crisis. They thank the Republic of Egypt for hosting Sudanese refugees on its territory, for its continued support for Sudan and its people in various forums, and for its support for the sovereignty of the Sudanese state and its legitimate institutions, especially the Armed Forces of the Sudanese People’s Committee, which are tasked with preserving national unity and security in the war against the terrorist “Rapid Support” militias. The undersigned commend the original position of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and the Egyptian people expressed in the opening speech by His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt.
Regarding the final statement of the Cairo Conference, we would like to clarify the following:
The undersigned Sudanese political and civil forces refused to participate directly in the “Taqaddum” coordination organization, which has declared an alliance and partnership with the Rapid Support Militia and has not condemned its crimes and terrible violations against the Sudanese people. The Sudanese political and civil forces chose to present their views on the issues raised separately through the Sudanese Mediator Council, where they are respected and appreciated.
The undersigned political and civil forces did not sign the final statement of the Cairo Conference for the following reasons:
1- The statement failed to condemn the illegal conduct of the Rapid Support Operation and its heinous crimes against unarmed civilians.
2- The statement did not declare full support for the legitimacy of the Sudanese Armed Forces in defending their land and people in this damn war imposed on our beloved country.
3- The statement talked about forming a joint committee with Takadam, but initially no agreement was reached.
4- The statement does not say that the Rapid Support Militia are the ones who are causing the people to starve by expelling them, looting their property and cutting off their food supply.
5- The final statement did not include the basic comments and amendments made by these forces to the draft statement, nor were they consulted on who would issue the statement on their behalf. They considered all this to be an unacceptable disregard of their views and positions.
Finally, the undersigned political and civil forces affirm their absolute support for efforts aimed at achieving peace in Sudan and their commitment to democratic transition and civilian rule through free and fair elections. Declare full support for Egypt’s efforts to initiate Sudan-Sudan dialogue.
