August 17, 2024 (Khartoum) – Activists in Bari, Khartoum, north of Sudan’s capital, reported on Saturday that warplanes bombed civilian areas, killing 10 civilians.
The “Abyad Wardaham” regional resistance committee in the Bari rural area of Khartoum said that warplanes killed 10 people in air strikes in the area.
The Sudanese military has been accused of conducting airstrikes on civilian targets, including civilians, homes and facilities, in various regions of Sudan. Military leaders claimed that the airstrikes were targeting Rapid Support Forces (RSF) gatherings and their weapons.
“Government warplanes bombed the Fazarab neighborhood in the Wardha area of Abyad, killing 10 people, most of them children, and injuring four, in addition to destroying several houses,” the committee said in a statement.
The committee noted that this was the second such attack in the area since the conflict broke out on April 15.
The commission confirmed that planes were bombing civilian homes where “there were only unarmed civilians who, due to circumstances and reality, had to endure the worst living conditions, including harassment by the Rapid Support Forces, high prices and difficulty in obtaining goods.”
The statement also said that these citizens “are enduring this reality in silence, with no help from any party.”
The attack killed Saleh Fadl Al-Mola, Raja Mohammed and her three children, as well as the child Khalid Ahmed and two girls. Mohammed Ahmed’s body remains buried under the rubble of the house and has not been found to date.
