Strategies to cope with this painful reality – Ali Muhammad Fakhro

The series of increasingly dangerous emergencies in the Arab lands requires more than cautious spectatorship and leaving it to strangers. Every day is a surprise, every day is a dangerous adventure beyond the will of this country, despite its rights, aspirations and social peace. The situation has become catastrophic, so it is necessary to ask ourselves, the authorities and the people the following questions: Do people see the attempts of the parties concerned to understand what is happening and to face it in a cooperative and united manner, are they just attempts, are they at the Arab level or at the Islamic level? Has anyone asked the Minister of Foreign Affairs to work with political think tanks and experts to study our new political situation and develop a short-term and long-term strategy of cooperation and solidarity? Has anyone asked the Minister of Information to do the same with regard to the terror of culture and the media? The same goes for the Minister of Economy and the Minister of Security?
Here we are referring to strategies of thought and understanding, as well as strategies of confrontation and action. This is an activity that groups around the world are beginning to develop in relation to their problems, even world problems that concern them and that affect their future.
Let us recall here that the Arab, Islamic and non-aligned nations did the same thing in the 1950s, when they began to propose new ideas and new acts of struggle outside the then Western colonial centrism. This was led by great loyal leaders. So why don’t we see any attempt, just an attempt, to learn from what happened and benefit from the wasted potential in the arena of Arab nations and Islamic brothers?
These are not embarrassing theoretical questions. They have become existential questions, and they are powerfully presented on behalf of the people, through the eyes of the crying and terrified children of Gaza, through the voices of their mothers and families crying for help, and through the young men and women of this country. They feel lost and cannot believe that humiliation is the fate that now rules the Arab and Islamic peoples, and that their future may also be dominated by this fate if this humiliating silence continues, this inexplicable rupture and separation and will remain bound. A tragic picture.
If anyone thinks that if the project existed and a courageous, militant leadership was present, millions of Arabs and Muslims would not be willing to make efforts, sacrifices and face martyrdom, then they are wrong. This is proven by the history of millions of people who sacrificed for their beliefs, the independence of their homeland and received brotherly assistance for Arabism and every common cause.
It would be a disaster if the axioms of the founding principles of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation were not implemented to restore dignity and eliminate our destiny by developing various strategies to deal with all kinds of terror. The hand of the Zionist colonialist West surprises us every day with a thousand tricks, a thousand conspiracies and intrigues.
A final word to officials: Do not disappoint the young men and women of this country by forcing them into exile, shedding tears of sorrow and helplessness.
