Meta’s X (Twitter) rival social network Threads is currently testing a new option that allows users to set a 24-hour timer for their posts, after which the post and all comments will automatically disappear, similar to the Stories format.
A company spokesperson confirmed to TechCrunch that the feature is being tested among a small group of users and was first revealed last month by well-known app researcher Alessandro Palozzi. In fact, the idea is reminiscent of X’s “Fleet,” but it didn’t really gain momentum. However, the new format may save trouble for users who frequently delete posts.
A few months ago, Instagram CEO Adam Mosari said Threads was working on an auto-archive option, which, once implemented, would allow users to set a date when their posts would be hidden from the feed. Previously, there was a lack of enthusiasm for the idea, and such a feature has yet to appear on a wider scale.
