In 2016, the State of Israel took over this wonderful sport, nationalizing the Wingate Institute and transforming it into a government company. The state realized that investing in high-achieving sports is not a “profitable” thing from an economic point of view, so if you want to see achievements, you have to invest. From then to today, we see a very clear process, according to which each union and branch of which the Wingate Institute has become a “national house” has achieved a quantum leap in the quality of training and training, and therefore, in achievements.
The arrival of Wingate Academy as a “national home” for each league is a real revolution for the high-achieving athletes in the discipline. From that moment on, the Academy becomes a sterile incubator for them, where they are given the complete professional envelope, we offer them the most advanced training facilities in the world, dormitories for overnight accommodation for athletes and coaches, a complete diet that meets their needs and is individually adjusted, the most advanced sports medicine services in the world, psychological training and, of course, a daily training program that promotes their maximum athletic ability.
Today, Sailing, Judo, Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics, Swimming, Fencing, Volleyball, Beach Volleyball, Water Polo and Archery all have their national home in Wingate and this year we will be adding Athletics and later on the Athletics. Taekwondo will also be joining us as the new $2.5 billion multi-purpose building at Wingate is completed and that’s not all: this September we will open Wingate High School, which will operate the Institute’s Institute of Sport Excellence, a complementary initiative that will cater to our next generation and the results of this investment that we expect to see at the 2032 Australian Olympic Games.
