Founder and CEO Cristina Pinzon said the anniversary falling during Diversity Business Month was even more reason to celebrate.

The importance of diverse businesses to New Jersey’s economy has never been more evident.

Businesses owned by people of color, women, veterans and members of the LGBTQ+ community play a vital role, according to the New Jersey Legislature. People of color own 21.7% of businesses in the state, while women and veterans own 39.6% and 4.2%, respectively.

Despite their significant economic impact, diversified businesses also face challenges to growth, including limited access to capital. A statewide study shows wide disparities among diversified businesses in receiving formal prime contracts for construction, professional services, and general goods and services.
