Poland’s antitrust agency UOKiK issued a statement saying that they have launched an investigation into potential anti-competitive behavior involving Xiaomi’s sales of devices in Poland.
UOKiK officials, assisted by police, raided the offices of Xiaomi and two of its distributors in Poland; the anti-competitive behavior may involve illegal price fixing of consumer electronics and household appliances.
If the relevant laws are violated, fines may be as high as 10% of the company’s annual turnover, and managers who reach illegal agreements may face fines of up to $511,000.
