In his congratulations, head of state Gitanas Nauseda said that this Olympic medal is a great joy for the entire Lithuanian people and a motivation for pride in Lithuanian athletes, their professionalism, perseverance and iron will.
“Congratulations to Dominika Banević for winning Lithuania’s first Olympic silver medal at the World Championships. Dominika is a representative of the young generation of Lithuania. With this victory, she showed the energy and determination of Lithuanian youth. They are leading Lithuania forward!” said the head of state.
President Banevich wished for more victories in the future.
At the time, Prime Minister Ingrida Simonit wrote in her congratulatory letter that she hoped Banevich’s silver medal would serve as a motivation for every young person not to doubt themselves.
“Congratulations to Dominika for a great achievement, which was achieved through extraordinary dedication, talent and countless hours invested in something that brings meaning and dazzles. Lithuania is proud!” – wrote the Prime Minister.
Japan’s Ami Yuasa won the gold medal in the break final.
