Muscat: The Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) will participate in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics for the 11th time, with four athletes representing three different sports.
They include young sprinter Ali bin Anwar al-Balushi, who is competing in her first Olympics, and female sprinter Mazoon Alaoui, who is competing in her third Olympics after Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.
Both will compete in the 100m. National shooter Said Ali al Khatri will compete in the men’s skeet shooting event at the Olympics for the first time, while swimmer Issa Sameer al Adawi will compete in the 100m freestyle for the second consecutive year after Tokyo 2020.
The 2024 Paris Olympics will open this Friday and last until August 11.

Ali al Busaifi, Mission Manager
Ali al Balushi qualified for the 100m race by directly qualifying among the top 56 sprinters, a ranking confirmed by World Athletics, the sport’s global governing body. Other Omani athletes also received international invitation cards, a result of the Oman Olympic Committee’s strong network and links with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Olympic Solidarity and international sports federations.
Last Thursday, Oman Olympic Committee Secretary General Taha Al-Kishri met with the athletes and congratulated them on the honour of representing Oman at the world competition. He encouraged them to give their best and strive to bring honour to Oman by achieving positive and advanced results that reflect the progress of Omani sports.

“I have been in close contact with the Paris 2024 coordinators over the past few months. Arriving in Paris a few days in advance is essential to ensure that all arrangements are in place,” said Ali Busafi. “The Heads of Delegation meeting will discuss various topics to ensure a smooth entry and comfortable stay for our athletes in the Olympic Village.”
“We thank the Paris 2024 Organising Committee and our national team members for their cooperation and support. We wish our athletes all the best as they arrive in Paris to begin their pre-Games training,” he added.
