Phnom Penh: National Police Spokesperson His Excellency General Chhay Kim Khoeun confirmed on the evening of August 18, 2024: “The planned extremist opposition riots were destroyed through cooperation, strict action, vigilance, flexibility and compliance with the law,” and those corrupt groups were not allowed to take actions that undermine social peace. Cambodia News Agency reported.
In fact, by implementing the anti-riot plan of the extreme opposition, scheduled for action on August 18, 2024, the authorities have checked and arrested 31 active members of the riot organization (2 women) who acted according to the plan. While focusing on specific targets, some evidence used in anti-government activities was confiscated (petrol bottles, knives, knives, sticks, rubber bands and metal bullets).
They have been taken into custody by the authorities and are set to be taken to court for legal action.
The General Council of the National Police thanks the relevant forces and authorities for their active participation in preventing subversion that would lead to the overthrow of the legitimate Royal Government, and especially thanks the overwhelming majority of people who understand the values of peace and support the laws of the Royal Government that emerged from the will of the people and do not engage in genocide with these extremist extremists.
I call on people from all walks of life at home and abroad not to be deceived by the corrupt political tricks of the extreme opposition, who, regardless of their lives and hardships, always treat the people as tools to serve the dirty ambitions of various factions, and “seize power in violation of democratic principles.”
