President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has filed a petition with the Chief Justice seeking the removal of Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng.
This is according to a report by Joy News in Accra and confirmed by The Herald.
Reports revealed that the petition was filed by the first Superintendent of Police, Martin Amidu, who accused Agyebeng of procurement irregularities and abuse of power.
Ajiben was appointed as Amidu’s successor in 2021.
His leadership style and other operational issues have been heavily criticised by Amidu over the past three years.

Brief introduction of Mr. Kissi Agyebeng before taking office:
Mr. Kissi Agyebeng was born on July 2, 1978 in Nkwatia, Kwahu.
He is the Managing Partner of Cromwell Gray LLP, a prominent Accra-based law firm. He is also the Chairman of the Electronic Communications Tribunal of Ghana, an appellate tribunal that hears appeals from decisions or orders of the National Communications Authority (NCA) and its Dispute Resolution Committee relating to electronic communications regulation, broadcasting regulation, use of the electromagnetic spectrum and related matters.
He obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Ghana, Legon, and a Professional Law Degree from the Ghana Law School. He then attended Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia to pursue his Master of Laws in Marine and Environmental Law. He then went to Cornell Law School in Ithaca, New York to pursue his Master of Laws in Corporate Law and Securities Regulation.
His areas of expertise include telecommunications law, energy law, real estate law, government contracts, procurement law, law of the sea, corporate and commercial law, maritime law, international law, international commercial arbitration, international business transactions, criminal law, international criminal law, sports law and media law.
