The meeting began with a report on forestry work in 2023 in the central Bosnian canton of Doo Donji Vakuf, which does not receive support from the ŽSB government.
The Coordinator of Ministers of the KSB Government HDZ Bosnia and Herzegovina and Minister of Education, Science, Youth, Culture and Sports Bojan Domić voted against the adoption of the report, while Minister of Justice and Administration Božana Petrović abstained.
Domic stressed that he blamed the Central Bosnia Canton Forestry Company for not responding in time to letters regarding the former nuns’ building in Bugojno.
– I would not call it a crisis, but if we had certain misunderstandings, differences, it is as obvious now as before, only now these problems have surfaced. We have diametrically opposite views on some things. There are things that we cannot accept, and we do not understand the opinions of our government partners. This is clearly a problem in Bugojno, which, unfortunately, spread to the work of a public company and the government. As a man, a Croatian, a Catholic, a member of the government and an official of a democratic district with his own principles, I cannot understand politics, people who make such decisions and block certain decisions – Domic said.
According to him, the problem is that there are people who are preventing the school building from being returned to the nuns who built it a hundred years ago.
– A hundred years ago, the nuns begged all over Europe to build that school. In 1945, the Communists seized the building and it ended up being owned by the company Šume ŽSB. For years, we have been trying to rent, own, renovate, establish relations, because that building in the center of Bugojno was empty and increasingly dilapidated. The management of the company did not deign to answer. After losing the case in court, the building will surely be returned to the nuns. The issue is as much political as it is other. Apparently, the management of the company is also guided by some policy, which it seems from Bugojno, says Domich.
Minister of Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection ŽSB Amir Šečibović (Head of Bugojno SDA) followed up on Domić’s statement, saying that the political agreement on the construction in Bugojno was over, and he asked Prime Minister Lunda to protect him from attacks, as he said, because his ministry’s agenda items did not pass the government seven or eight times in a row.
– I do not think I have any valid reasons for not passing the decision. But I think it is more of a political question, the election campaign has already started. This affects the government, and I absolutely think that this should not be done and is not right in the interest of the citizens of this state. I must say in the interest of the public that certain decisions have not been passed by seven or eight governments. I think it is right for the government to adopt the decisions that have been issued, so that we can discuss solutions and implement the plan in the coming period. As long as this does not come about, it is clear that we will have a surplus in December, which will definitely come in handy and we will spend it next year. This is good for all budget users, because the basic salary will definitely be able to increase, so there is a positive side – says Šečibović.
ŽSB Prime Minister Tahir Lendo said that the issue of buildings in Bugojno should not be linked to the ŽSB forest work report.
– Obviously, local elections are approaching, which also creates tension at this level of government. Central Bosnian State Forest is a successful state enterprise that achieved impressive results in 2023. The listed company, together with the management, the Supervisory Board and the General Assembly, adopted all reports and submitted them to the government for comments. Today we have encountered an obstacle, which is unnatural and abnormal in terms of what the report brings, said Lundo.
In the end, all participants came to the conclusion that political dialogue is the best way out of the current situation in order to prevent the deepening of political problems and affect the work of the ŽSB government.
