South Sudan: Rwandan army praised for role in protecting civilians

That was during his visit to the Rwandan Army base of the Mission in Lonni, Malakal, at (Rwanbatt-2), along with other officials from the UNMISS headquarters.

The officials were received by Lieutenant Colonel Charles Rutagisha of the Rwandan Army stationed at Rwanbatt-2.


Lt. Col. Charles Rutagisha briefed the leaders on the current situation and activities led by the Rwandan Army in seven (7) districts of the thirteen (13) provinces of North Nile State.

UNMISS Head Lieutenant General Mohan Subramanian commended the Rwandan peacekeepers in South Sudan for their efforts and role in protecting civilians and implementing the UNMISS mandate.


He said he appreciated their dedication, especially in protecting the displaced persons in Malakal and Bunji areas. He also commended Rwanbatt-2 for his skill in duty, dedication and courtesy shown to the applicants.
