St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The Solid Waste Management Corporation (SWMC) has announced the launch of the Clean Mile campaign, which aims to improve the island’s cleanliness and environmental sustainability. Individuals, organizations and businesses can participate in this effort to maintain and improve the environment.
The Clean Mile campaign will see local organizations, businesses and community members collaborate to clean designated areas around the island. The first cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, July 27, 2024, with subsequent events planned to take place every other month, with the next event set to take place on September 28, 2024.
The word “mile” in this initiative symbolizes the collective commitment, effort and impact of the participants. While cleaning up one mile of land is a tangible goal, the broader goal is to instill a sense of ownership, environmental responsibility and community pride. The event is designed to foster positive attitudes, behaviors and community spirit.
