American rapper and actor Snoop Dogg will on Friday become one of the final Olympic torchbearers before the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., is from Los Angeles, the host city of the 2028 Olympics.

Mathieu Hanotin, mayor of Saint-Denis, announced that Snoop Dogg, 52, will carry the torch through the Saint-Denis neighborhood, the last journey before it reaches the Eiffel Tower. Snoop Dogg posted a photo of himself in Paris on Twitter with the caption: “Are you ready? Paris 2024 Olympics, you have to study hard.”

Snoop Dogg will also be a part of NBCUniversal’s coverage of the Olympics, contributing regular primetime coverage to NBC and Peacock and exploring iconic landmarks in Paris. He expressed his enthusiasm in a statement released in December: “I grew up watching the Olympics and it’s exciting to see these incredible athletes at their best in Paris. It’s a celebration of skill, dedication and the pursuit of greatness.”

Earlier this month, Snoop Dogg competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon, and finished the 200-meter exhibition race in 34.44 seconds.

In St. Denis, Snoop Dogg will be joined by other famous torchbearers including French actress Laetitia Casta and French rapper MC Solaar. The Olympic torch relay began in May and has been carried by several high-profile figures such as former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, Formula One driver Charles Leclerc and actress Halle Berry.
