Silhavy selected 25 players, ahead of Chinese Taipei and Kyrgyzstan

Muscat: Oman national football team head coach Jaroslav Silhawi has called up 25 players for the upcoming domestic training camp in Muscat as part of the team’s preparations for the fifth and sixth rounds of the second phase of the combined Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2027 Asian Cup.

The training camp will start on Tuesday and the team will travel to Chinese Taipei on June 3 and face Chinese Taipei in an away game on June 6. After that, the Reds will return to Muscat on June 11 for the last qualifier against Kyrgyzstan. On November 16, 2023, Oman defeated Chinese Taipei 3-0 in Muscat.

The majority of the 25 players selected by the Czech coach represent Sibir (7 players) and Al Nahdha (5 players). Sibir ended the season on a good note, winning the Super Cup, OFA Cup and recently lifting the League Shield. Al Nahdha ended up being runners-up in the Top League and HM Cup, and finished second in the AFC Cup West.

Three weeks ago, the national team’s administrative team, consisting of Hussein Zajali and Kavankara Bavel, travelled to Chinese Taipei to ensure all logistical and technical arrangements before the team arrived there.

Currently, Kyrgyzstan leads the second-placed national team in Group D by 9 points with a goal difference advantage. Malaysia ranks third with 6 points, and Chinese Taipei ranks fourth with 0 points.
