A fool gives vent to his anger, but a wise woman keeps it under control. Proverbs 29:11
This statement hit me like a hammer in the head as I think back to a time when I had no qualms about speaking my feelings. I could make the excuse that I was young and foolish, and that is true. I am sure many of you can relate. Think about how much pain and heartache, even anger, you may have caused others because you felt it was time for them to get their comeuppance. At first you thought it was a good idea because you couldn’t hold it in anymore, but then you realized that you had caused a great deal of damage and, of course, without God’s help, you may never be able to make up for it.
Social media, spats, and showing off are clearly overblown these days. Oversharing can open you up to attack, suspicion, and misunderstanding at the wrong time. Instead of seeking public approval, share it with God in prayer. Also share it with those who are willing to pray with you and for you.
It seems like the whole world is suffering from histrionic disorder.
Whatever dreams and visions we are given, we better treat it like a newborn. Keep your baby safe and warm. Keep him away from harm and danger. Nurture him with love and grace during his early vulnerable years. Watch him grow up.
I learned from RT Kendall about the life of Joseph, the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham. Joseph’s journey to becoming the governor of Egypt took many twists and turns because he shared so many dreams with his brothers and showed off his colorful coat. He was a slave and prisoner for 17 years to realize his dream.
Sometimes it’s best to keep silent about the dreams and visions God has given us. A good woman will understand that she is hard to find and more valuable than diamonds. Your worth is not in what you own. You are a human being created in the image of God.
A wise woman builds her house, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands.
Jesus said, “They will know you by your love for one another.” He didn’t say how much money is in your bank account, how fancy your house is, or what car you drive. Just love!
