As a highlight of the ongoing 26th Shanghai International Film Festival, the latest “China Film and Television Night” was held at the Shanghai International Media Port on June 16. This is an annual event that celebrates the people in front of and behind the scenes of the Chinese film and television industry.

With the theme of “Chinese Stories in Light and Shadow”, the event commends outstanding original Chinese works and invites film and television practitioners to share behind-the-scenes stories, exploring how filmmakers use film narratives to tell moving Chinese stories and fully and truly present the image of China.

In the film review session, classic films such as the Chinese epic The Investiture of the Gods, the Chinese comedy YOLO, and the Tang Dynasty animated film The Longest Day in Chang’an were highlighted, as well as popular TV series such as The Joy of Life Season 2, The Great River North Season 3, The Moon Is Full, and The City Within a City. In the upcoming works session, exciting works that will be broadcast on China Central Radio and Television were also introduced.

2024 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France and the China-France Cultural Tourism Year. At the “China Film and Television Night”, the “French Film Week” specially planned by the Shanghai International Film Festival was officially launched. During the event, 38 excellent French films will be screened in 156 screening halls in Shanghai, giving Chinese audiences the opportunity to participate in rich cultural exchanges and strengthen relations between the two countries.
