Kaieteur News – A 44-year-old unemployed man from Leopold Street, Georgetown, appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates Court on Friday facing a charge of simple theft.

The defendant, Quincy Wills, stole two rearview mirrors from Ryan Playter on August 21, 2024, on Brickdam Road (near Demico House) in Georgetown.

Wells appeared before Magistrate Annette Singh to hear the charges against him.

He pleaded guilty.

According to a police report filed in court, on the day of the incident, Platt drove away from his home and headed to Georgetown to meet a friend who was waiting for him at the DeMico Building.

Platt then parked his car on Brickdam near the location and went to the building, with the car intact.

Thirty minutes later, Platt returned to his car and discovered that both of his rearview mirrors were missing.

Police received a report and arrested Wells, informed him of the charges and issued him a warning.

Wells admitted the crime and was charged.

Wells was fined $10,000, but the sheriff warned him not to steal mirrors again or he would be punished more severely.

Magistrate Singh warned, “If you come to me again, you will go to jail.”
