MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Overton Park Shell) – The 31st Juneteenth Douglas Freedom and Heritage Festival will be held at Douglas Park, 1616 Ashe St., on Friday, June 14 through Sunday, June 16. Throughout the weekend, the festival will feature a number of events, including performances by the African Jazz Ensemble and the National Jookin’ Alliance, exhibits, food booths, educational workshops and more. The Mobile Shell Stage will be on site for performances on Saturday and Sunday.
Since 1993, Douglas Park has hosted the Juneteenth Douglas Freedom and Heritage Festival, which commemorates the liberation of enslaved African Americans through events and impactful programming.
“We believe in the transformative power of the arts,” said Shelby Smith, Marketing and Communications Manager for Overton Park Shell. “Our goal is to break down barriers, build bridges, and bring engaging experiences directly into the heart of the community. Partnering with the Juneteenth Douglass Heritage & Freedom Festival allows us to honor a pivotal moment in history while celebrating the richness of artistic expression.”
