Sheldon Yan Too Sang won the gold medal in the U40 category of Poomsae at the 2023 JIOI in Madagascar, and brought honor to his country by winning the gold medal at the African Games in Accra in March this year. It was his gold medal in Ghana that put him in the 16th place in the world ranking of Poomsae in his age group. This result brought him 40 points. As of today, the first place is American Minki Seong with a score of 145.69.

To prepare, they spent a week at the renowned TS Academy (a local leader in taekwondo), then four days at Kyung Hee University before heading to another taekwondo club in Seoul. Sylvestre Yan Too Sang said. The latter confirmed that his son’s trip to South Korea is part of his preparation for the World Championships. However, no official decision has yet been made regarding the athlete’s participation in this event. “It will be up to the Mauritius Taekwondo Federation to decide whether to send him there,” He said.
