On Wednesday, a French doctor who came to Mauritius with his family to work reported the case to the Pointe-aux-Canonniers police station. This was after seeing a half-naked person in the bedroom of his four-year-old daughter. The latter, a 43-year-old Frenchman who is currently on vacation on the island, was arrested and detained.
The woman, who arrived in Mauritius for work since June, is currently staying in a coastal hotel, accompanied by her husband and four children. They are divided into two rooms: the couple with a four-month-old baby sleeps in one room, while the other three children sleep in the other. At around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, while she was soundly asleep, the doctor was suddenly awakened by the crying of her four-year-old daughter. She rushed into the next room and was surprised to see a half-naked person standing in front of the child. Her husband immediately joined her and took the person out of the room before notifying security personnel.
The man, a 43-year-old French national who was currently on vacation, immediately fled and hid in his room, which was next to the children’s room. The police were alerted and arrested him. He remains in custody.
