“Taqadam” distorted the facts and claimed that I refused to condemn the Fast Support violations.
Dr. Hadi Idris claimed in an interview with Al Jazeera on the evening of July 7 that I objected to “I, Mohammed Zakaria, Farajala” (mentioning the names of the parties that committed violations and my insistence on condemning only the violations without mentioning the perpetrators), and that more than one publication promoting this false claim has been circulated in the media, which needs to be clarified.
The position of political and civil forces is to refuse to sit directly with progressive groups.
I was assigned to form a small committee with a group of leaders to review the first draft of the final statement of the Cairo Conference with the Sudanese mediators committee. This task comes from supporting the country’s political and civil forces. Institutions and its sovereignty, and supporting its armed forces, joint forces and forces mobilized in defense of Sudan and the Sudanese people.
Our task was limited to reviewing the first draft of the statement with the Coordinators’ Committee, submitting it to the political and civil power groups with the power to approve it, and then returning it to the Coordinators’ Committee.
– In our meeting with the Sudanese Mediator Committee, we stressed the need to condemn the violations committed by the Rapid Support militia against the Sudanese people.
The position of the Taqadum organization is to insist on not condemning the violations of the fast support, or both parties are condemned for the violations (as they say)!
We assure the Sudanese Mediator Council that the armed forces have been, are and will be fulfilling their duty to protect our people from rapid support violations, in accordance with the rules of engagement and objectives stipulated in the Armed Forces Act and international humanitarian law, and we refuse to equate it with the militias, consider the militias as parallel institutions, use the term “both sides”, or indicate anyone’s accusation against it.
– Due to the objection of the submitting group, this section was not agreed upon, so we ask the Sudan Facilitator Committee to color it red so that it remains a divisive issue.
The position was that the statement would be subject to consensus before being released, so the Coordinators’ Committee presented the draft to the political and civil forces, but the political and civil forces rejected the statement and refused to include the names of their organizations and the Taqadum group in a statement allied with the Rapid Support Militia.
• The civil and political forces agreed with the mediators’ committee that the mediators would issue a short statement in their name briefly reflecting the views of the parties, but this agreement was not implemented.
• The statement read out at the closing session was not signed by political and civil forces.
On 7 July, several leaders of the Democratic Bloc, the Coordination of National Forces, the Sudanese Charter and the Civilian Forces issued a statement explaining that they were not a party to the final statement.
To claim that we agree without explicitly condemning the militia’s illegal actions is an absolute lie.
The claim that we agree to equate our armed forces with militias is a lie.
To be sure, the Taqaddum organization refuses to condemn the Rapid Support Militia’s violations unless it includes a condemnation of the armed forces.
The militia’s allies tried to fabricate facts to confirm their loyalty to the Sarria militia.
I reject the falsehood of condemning the militias and am proud to be a soldier of the Sudanese Justice and Equality Movement, whose soldiers are fighting honor violators of the Rapid Support Militia and its allies in the combined forces, all under the command of the Sudanese Armed Forces.
