From July 9 to 11, 2024, USAID Deputy Administrator Isabel Coleman will travel to Georgetown, Guyana.
During her visit, the Deputy Administrator will strengthen USAID’s strong partnership with Guyana and its commitment to supporting inclusive economic development, democratic governance, and climate adaptation and resilience in the Caribbean, according to a USAID press release. She will deliver a keynote address at the Caribbean Investment Forum, highlighting USAID’s support for small and medium-sized enterprises and reaffirming the need for private sector investment to achieve inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
The Deputy Administrator will also meet with senior officials from the Government of Guyana and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to reaffirm USAID’s commitment to partnering with Guyana and countries in the region under the U.S.-Caribbean Partnership to Address the Climate Crisis by 2030 (PACC 2030).
The press release also said that she will also meet with civil society leaders to reiterate their need to engage with government and listen to their views on citizen participation in local governance. In addition, the Deputy Chief Executive will participate in a roundtable discussion with Guyanese business leaders and US government counterparts to explore trade, labor needs and investment challenges, as well as opportunities in the region.
